Fairthorpe Pathfinder project for sale on ebay.

There is currently a Pathfinder V8 project for sale on ebay, it is complete except for the engine and gearbox which have been sold, it is going at a giveaway price. This car was very nicely built from the kit but now needs a good home, here is a link to the auction:-

I`m pleased to say the car has now found a sympathetic new owner who has previously owned a V6 engined Pathfinder and that he has joined the Fairthorpe Sports Car Club.

  1. Hi Martin. Bit of a cheeky one, but I'm looking for a V8-engined project and was considering buying and this and fitting engine/g'box. However, what is this car? Can't find anything on it specifically. When was it made do you think. What mechanicals (axle/suspension)are used? Guy selling it doesn't have much info. Thanks in advance, Terry.

  2. Hi Terry, I can tell you a lot about this car, my father Frank and I produced the Fairthorpe Pathfinder kits from the old Fairthorpe works at Denham in the 80`s, our company was called Motorville (Watford). 8 kits were sold, most were fitted with Rover V8 engines/boxes. The chassis is a very strong spaceframe which would take a lot more power than the Rover, running gear was Cortina Mk4/5, the Rover engine cars had the axle from the 2.3 V6 Cortina, I think it has Spax adjustable shocks all round fitted. This car was built by a husband and wife, she did a lot of the work on the car and it was undoubtedly the best one built. I think the paint was a Jaguar metallic burgundy, I can`t remember if the interior was leather or not. The engine they fitted had a high lift cam and Holley carb, I have spoken to the guy that owned the car when it went into the guy who is selling it. He had the engine replaced with an even more powerful one but then his circumstances changed and the bill was not paid. That was a couple of years ago and so the seller is now auctioning the car to recoup his money.
There was a hood with the car when built.
Two Pathfinders have now gone to owners in Europe, three are unaccounted for, I know the where abouts of the other three including this one. If you want any more information or a chat send me another message with your contact details, I will not publish your details on this site..........Martin
